Samsung Galaxy Note 5 owners have started receiving the much-anticipated Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update on their devices.
Mid-February saw the South Korean company initiate the global roll out of the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow to its Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones. In line with this move, Samsung also announced the Android 6.0.1 M update roll out to users of the two aforementioned flagships. This, however, may take some time to actually reach the users due to individual carrier factors. Various carriers spend time in rolling out updates depending on their devices’ versions.
Galaxy Note 5 owners in Cambodia have started getting Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow
A number of Samsung Galaxy Note 5 users in Cambodia have already begun getting the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update. This is happening while Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge users are uncertain of the actual arrival of the update on their devices.
Reports indicate that the latest Marshmallow update is already in Cambodia for Galaxy Note 5 of model SM-N920C with build number N920CXXU2BPB6. Suggestions have it that the update is accessible via the firmware section of SamMobile and also Samsung Smart Switch. It is expected that the firmware will soon be availed as an OTA update to Note 5 owners.
Expectations of the update on Galaxy Note 5
The latest Marshmallow update has improvements and tweaks that aim to improve the performance of Android devices. Galaxy Note 5’s 3,000mAh battery together “Doze” and “App Standby” modes in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow will definitely be a big boost to the performance of the device.
The App Standby mode identifies mobile applications that have not been engaged in a while and deactivates them. On the other hand, “Doze” mode puts your device in a hibernation state upon recognizing that your device has not been engaged for a long while.
This update to Galaxy Note 5 also comes with Google Now on Tap, new Samsung browser with ad-blocking enhancement and some tweaks on the UI. This update is expected to bring improvements to the performance of the Galaxy Note 5 though hard to notice due to the device’s fast speed.
Not so soon for American owners
America’s Sprint, Verizon and AT&T carriers have not yet mentioned anything regarding the Android 6.0.1 update for the Galaxy Note 5. TELUS (Canadian carrier) has however outlined March 9 as the official roll out date of the update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5. This is the same day the Canadian carrier intends to unleash the same update for Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.
No official word has however come from the South Korean manufacturer concerning this update for Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
