Samsung Galaxy Note 5 may have already met its better match in the shape of Galaxy Note 7, however, the phablet is still a huge force in the smartphone world.
One of the most successful Samsung flagships from 2015, the Galaxy Note 5 is now the latest Sammy device to be updated with this month’s Android security patch. Dated August 1, the update has taken longer than usual, especially when looking at the same updates over the past few months. Nevertheless, those using the Note 5 can now enjoy a series of new security improvements, but don’t expect anything new to come in terms of features.
Weighing at 77MB, the Galaxy Note 5 update will bring the build number of the installed software to N920GDDU2BPH2. It will be coming as an OTA update, so expect to see a notification show up in your notifications panel. If this doesn’t happen soon, there is nothing to fret since it’s normal with OTA updates – they reach devices at different times, depending on location or even device model numbers.
In fact, the latest update is only rolling out to Samsung Galaxy Note 5 units in India. The Korean tech giant has not mentioned a thing about when the same update should be hitting other handsets in other regions, but with the process already on, it shouldn’t be long before your unit gets the same update. There is also a manual way of getting the update if waiting for the OTA notification is not part of your plan. Head to the Galaxy Note 5 and open the settings menu. Scroll down to the About phone option and while in there, you can check for Software updates.
