Samsung will be announcing the successor to last year’s Galaxy Note 5 very soon. While mixed reports have been showing up on various online media with respect to the name of this upcoming phablet, the latest revelation seems to have just confirmed the official name of this phone.
According to serial leaker Evan Blass, the next Samsung phablet will indeed be known as Galaxy Note 7. Like most of the newer rumors and speculations have been putting it, the phone’s renaming is so as to put it in line with the rest of the company’s naming of the 2016 flagships. In March, Samsung released Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge and just recently, it followed up these two with an AT&T exclusive tough-and-rugged Samsung Galaxy S7 Active.
The Galaxy Note 7 will reportedly be joining the party by skipping the number 6, which was expected to come after last year’s Note 5. The newly leaked photo comes with what is considered the Galaxy Note 7 logo, with further claims that the South Korean tech giant might opt for the curved dual-edge variant instead of the flat screen version.
Previous reports have also shown a leaked image that indicated Samsung’s possible release date for the Galaxy Note 7 Edge, which is set for early August. But just like the latest revelation by Blass, it cannot be confirmed that indeed the phone that will be released will feature a curved screen similar to the Galaxy S7 Edge.
The renowned smartphone leaker came in with further details of what he believes will be the featured on the Galaxy Note 7 when it is released. As opposed to the numerous rumors that have been pointing towards a slightly larger 5.8-inch sRGB screen, Blass believes that the Note 7 will still rock the same 5.7-inch display size that has featured on previous Note series. In addition, he adds that Samsung Galaxy Note 7 users will have the chance of using an iris scanner for authentication purposes.
Other specs that Blass points out are a QHD Super AMOLED display panel, the same camera arrangement of 12MP/5MP as what you get on the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, 6GB RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, 4000mAh battery unit as well as IP68 certification. As for the color variants, expect blue, black and silver.
