Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Concept shows off a Dual-Lens Camera and On-screen Fingerprint Scanner

Samsung has already made it clear that the Galaxy Note 7 will get a replacement, possibly the Galaxy Note 8 this year.

In fact, the tech giant recently added more weight to this matter during its earnings call, stating that it’s still lining up another flagship that will be released in the second half of this year. Traditionally, Samsung releases the Galaxy Note series during this period, which leaves nothing to the imagination as far as the rumored Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is concerned.

We’ve already heard talks of what the Galaxy Note 8 might come in with, but a lot of it is based on what the current Galaxy S8 has already brought in verses what it would have brought. For instance, the S8 has made headlines with the huge 5.8-inch (and 6.2-inch for the S8+) Infinity Display screen, something that has led many to suggest that the Note 8 might debut an even bigger 6.4-inch Infinity Display in order to keep its phablet status.

The Galaxy S8 has also done the unthinkable, moving the fingerprint scanner from the usual position on the bottom bezel to the back of the phone, just beside the main camera, something that has left quite a huge chunk of fans dissatisfied. This change came in due to the design shift, where Sammy ditched the physical keys in favor of on-screen keys. Initially, it was thought that the S8 will debut an on-screen fingerprint scanner, but this did not happen – apparently due to time constraints.

Now, according to a new Samsung Galaxy Note 8 concept video, the creator has some cute imaginations about what this phablet will come in with. For starters, the Note 8 will rectify one major mistake made on the design of the S8, ditching the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner in favor of an on-screen sensor. This means that the on-screen keys will still keep their places.

With the trending dual-lens cameras, fans were dreaming of a Galaxy S8 with two lenses on the back, but this did not happen. As a result, the concept creator thinks that Samsung will make amends and make the Galaxy Note 8 the first of its smartphones to ship with a dual-lens camera. The lenses could be 12MP Dual Pixel and 13MP telephoto sensors with support for OIS and up to 3x zoom.

Like the Galaxy S8, you can expect the Galaxy Note 8 to come with the best specs under the hood, including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC (Exynos 8895), 4GB/6GB RAM and 64GB/128GB of expandable storage. Other S8 design features such as an iris scanner, 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C, Bixby button, power button and volume rockers will keep their place, but as usual, the Note 8 will get an S Pen pocket on the bottom end.

As noted earlier, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be unveiled in the second half of this year, but the exact date is still unclear. Also note that this is just a video concept of the Note 8 based on a fan’s imagination, so don’t be too quick to believe everything.
