After reports of a Samsung Galaxy On7 (2016) showing up on a benchmarking site with Android Marshmallow and 3GB RAM on board, it has also emerged that last year’s Galaxy On5 will be receiving a refreshed version really soon.
Just like it started with Samsung Galaxy On7 (2016) where details leaked from India’s import and export listing site – Zauba – the story is the same as far as the 2016 Galaxy On5 is concerned. A few weeks ago, Zauba revealed that a device by model number SM-G610F was being shipped to India for purposes of testing and evaluation. The leak gave out further details about the phone, but there is no confirmation of the phone’s release date.
Now, the same import and export website has once again listed details of yet another Samsung smartphone that is believed to the Galaxy On5 (2016). This is true given that last year’s Galaxy On5 came in with model number SM-G550, whereas the leaked device has model number SM-G5700. The device’s reason for shipment is for testing and evaluation purposes, an indicator that the phone might also be released really soon.
Samsung introduced the Galaxy On series towards the end of last year, which means it’s about time the phone was refreshed. As it appears, we might end up seeing refreshed versions of Samsung Galaxy On5 (2016) and Galaxy On7 (2016) in the next few months.
At launch, Samsung Galaxy On5 (2015) was valued at about $150 whereas the Galaxy On7 (2015) carried a price tag of about $185. As for the specs, the former packs a 5-inch HD LCD display panel while the latter has a 5.5-inch HD LCD screen. Under the hood, both units have a quad-core processor that is backed by a RAM of 1.5GB and expandable onboard storage of 8GB. However, Samsung Galaxy On5 (2015) has an Exynos 3475 SoC as opposed to the Snapdragon 410 SoC used on the Galaxy On7 (2015). The smaller handset has a battery unit of 2600mAh and while the larger model has 3000mAh.
As pointed out earlier, the new Galaxy On7 (2016) will reportedly come with 3GB of RAM and Android Marshmallow on board. If the same report is to be believed, the phone will sport a smaller 4.8-inch display screen, but the panel will be a Super AMOLED with Full HD resolution. The phone is expected to carry an octa-core Snapdragon SoC and expandable onboard storage of 16GB. This year’s Galaxy On7 will also feature a 13MP main camera and 8MP secondary camera. As for the price, it is expected to be around the same region as last year’s version.
Coming to the Galaxy On5 (2016), nothing really has come out. However, just like the Galaxy On7 (2016) is packing some notable improvements, this year’s Galaxy On5 is also expected to be even better. Remember, this report is based on leaks and rumors, none of which have been confirmed by Samsung. As a result, it is better to take it with a pinch of salt, up until concrete details show up.
But until then, keep following us and we’ll update you with any new info regarding the 2016 Galaxy On5 and Galaxy On7.
