The Google I/O 2016 is set to take place in a few days’ time, if not weeks. During this event, the search engine giant is expected to make official the next version of Android dubbed N.

As this event gets even closer, the leading seller of Android smartphones, Samsung, is still struggling with rolling out last year’s Android 6.0 Marshmallow to all of its compatible devices. It is only deep into Q1 2016 that the South Korean company started rolling out Marshmallow updates to the last year’s flagship family of Samsung Galaxy S6 series and the Galaxy Note 5.

While 2014’s Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 joined the party, later on, it is only now that news of Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini Marshmallow updates is showing up. In addition to the 2014 handset, there is also news that this year’s Samsung Galaxy J3 is also on the list of Samsung devices to be updated with this new OS.

Samsung hasn’t made the news of this Marshmallow update to the two devices, however, sources close to the matter claim that the devices will be receiving the update really soon.

As noted earlier, Samsung Galaxy S5 has already received the Marshmallow update. The phone debuted with Android 4.4.2 KitKat on board and later on received Android Lollipop updates. Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini followed, later on, running on the same OS and last year it was updated to Android Lollipop as well. Apparently, the Galaxy S5 Mini’s Marshmallow update has been spotted by Sam Mobile, which should mean the update will be here soon.

The update has already been pushed to Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport. It is also expected that the Korean tech giant will avail Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates for other devices such as Samsung Galaxy A5, Galaxy A7, and Galaxy A8, among other recently-released devices.

Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) was first launched with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on board. However, when some units of this phone started shipping to other regions such as the United States and even some parts of Korea, they were preinstalled with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It is, for this reason, Sam Mobile believes that the variants of the mid-range smartphone that came preinstalled with Android Lollipop will soon be treated to a Marshmallow update.

The Marshmallow update will bring things like Doze, Google Now on Tap, Do Not Disturb, better app permissions control and Direct Share, among many other features to users of Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini. The story is the same when it comes to Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) users as well.
