Samsung has released Android Nougat 7.0 OS update to Galaxy S6 Edge and has rolled out firmware updates to a bunch of other Galaxy phones (S6 Edge+, S8, S8+) and phablets (Note 5, Note 8) today.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge has been running on Marshmallow and this update will change the OS to Android Nougat 7.0.
The official documents found on Samsung’s website have confirmed that at least half-a-dozen models are about to get upgraded to Android’s newest operating system. The documents reveal the firmware updates for each phone but not all phones get the latest OS updates. It’s just S6 that is getting a major update and other phones are getting only a minor update to improve their performance. The manufacturer is doing their best to ensure older smartphone users are not left behind.
Based on the information available, the S6 Edge with the build numbers G9250ZCU2ERB2 and G9250RHC2ERB2 has the largest file size weighing in at 1233.30 MB. It is confirmed that the phone gets Android 7.0 Nougat update. The S6 Edge+ has its file size pegged at 98.94 MB whereas the Galaxy Note 5 is at 124.97MB.
The Galaxy S8 is expected to receive an update for Samsung Experience 9.0 Beta weighs in at 1360.04MB. Other newer models which will receive the firmware update include the Galaxy S8+ with a file size of 116.79 MB and the Galaxy Note 8 which weighs in at 139.25 MB.
