Samsung released the first curved phone Samsung Galaxy S6 last year and Samsung Galaxy S7 this year!
It is not the first time for Samsung to introduce a new innovation in the mobile industry. Millions of Galaxy Tab fans flocked the stores and booths to get their hands on this Samsung phone.
Just when some critics assumed that the introduction of another Samsung curved phone won’t be as successful as the first released phone, news about its success became prominent in the mobile industry. Counterpoint Research released a report stating that the latest smartphones (Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge) have got 50% higher sales during its first month in the market compared to the first month its predecessor, Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge was introduced. In the United States, the opening month saw a record of 30% higher sales. On the other hand, Western Europe had an increase of 20%.
According to the report, there were over 10 million units that were shipped by the company during its opening month. Researchers believe that these new smart phones released by one of the world leaders in electronics will gain more sales compared to its predecessors.
There are several contributing factors why Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge achieved this kind of success. The first is the fact that its biggest competition, Apple iPhone, wasn’t able to impress users with the new iPhone 6s. On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy S7 has new features that are far advanced from what was offered by Samsung Galaxy S6.
Success of Samsung Galaxy S7
However, those who are behind the research also point out that one of those that played crucial role in the success of Samsung Galaxy S7 is how the company was able to successfully manage supply and demand. Last year, everyone was looking for Samsung Galaxy S6 edge and seldom do people prefer buying the flat version. However, there was little production, which was not able to fill the demand of the consumers. During this period, Samsung lost lots of opportunity. They learned from their mistake and have got it right now. This time, Samsung was prepared to fill the demand of their mobile phone users.
If we think about Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge features, we can’t help but notice the huge leap when it comes to technological advancement. While both phones are dust and water-resistant, Samsung Galaxy S7 is IP 68 Dust and Water-Resistant Certified. Also, S7 supports micro SD cards. Some may be surprised to discover that S7’s main camera is only 12MP compared to its predecessor’s 16MP main camera. However, it still provides image clarity with the dual pixel technology it utilizes.
Still, Samsung should still stay on the lookout for their competition. During the interview with Tech Crunch, Director Neil Shah of Counterpoint Research stated that Samsung still has their work cut out to maintain this momentum. Also, there are smaller companies offering high quality smartphones at a more affordable price. Samsung’s other lines of smartphones were able to take back the top spot on smart phone sales in some countries like Indonesia and India where sales of smartphones increases every day. Samsung may not be leading but it’s sure close to where it wants to be.
