The much awaited Android Oreo 8.0 update for the Galaxy A-series smartphones namely Galaxy A4, A5 and A7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge is reportedly coming soon, in the next 4-6 weeks.
The Oreo release date for Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 (2017) models is planned on June 1, 2018 and for Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, it’s on the 18th of May, 2018. In addition to these models, Samsung has also promised to update its Galaxy Tab S3 with the Oreo update.
This information comes from the reliable Turkish website GüncelMiyiz, which is used to pass on official information from Samsung to its users in Turkey.
Updated Oreo Release Dates
The same website had earlier mentioned that Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 (2017) were expected to get the Android 8.0 update on May 25, 2018. Now it’s been postponed by a week to June.
Similarly, the dates for Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have been pushed from planned release of April 13 to May 18. The 9.7-inch tab from Samsung, the Galaxy Tab S3 had its release date set as May 4. However, this has now been pushed to May 18 along with other Galaxy S devices.
Recent Wi-Fi Certifications
Earlier this week, we saw the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge show up in the Wi-Fi Alliance certification website and that included all major variants of S7 and S7 Edge in the US including Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon and the unlocked models.
In the first week of April, we did spot the Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 models in the same WFA certification website!
In addition to this, a few days ago, Samsung Russia had already started to release Oreo to Galaxy A5 devices. We can’t expect Samsung to roll out the updates to all regions at the same time. As has been the norm, users in different countries can expect these updates a few days in advance or a few days after the updates are rolled out in Turkey. So users will definitely get the Oreo update for the above-mentioned devices and that’s for sure!
