The Samsung Galaxy S7 and its twin brother, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, are two of the most popular android smartphones out there in 2016.
It is not a surprise that both these phones have been available in unlocked and contract variants throughout the United States since the launch. Strangely, however, Samsung were yet to make these phones available officially without any contracts. It has finally happened with both these phones now available officially on the Samsung website in the United States.
So far, they have been available in the unlocked versions only on third party retailers from platforms like Amazon and eBay. They have also been immensely popular networks like Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint, but their availability in the unlocked version increases the attractiveness even further for some. The unlocked versions of the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge will be capable of working on any network like T-Mobile, US cellular, AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 is the successor to the Samsung Galaxy S6, which had many flaws in the eyes of critics. The Galaxy S7, however, is a huge step in the right direction for the South Korean company, which has been facing issues of falling sales. The phone comes with the same 5.2-inch screen as seen in recent generations, but the Galaxy S7 Edge has the advantage of a curved display in the side. The first generation of the Edge phones had limited capability, but the Galaxy S7 Edge may mark the use of this display as an important feature on a smartphone.
Other features like the 12-megapixel rear camera are common in both phones, while the fast charging feature has been improved so as to take advantage of the plethora of features on the device. The Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge easily have one of the best smartphone cameras around. It may not be high on megapixel count like the Sony Xperia Z5, but features like optical image stabilization and 4K video recording, 720p video recording at 240 frames per second, and a five-megapixel front camera with f/1.7 would satisfy any shutterbug.
The Galaxy S7 has a moderate battery life due to its 3000 mAh battery while the Galaxy S7 Edge has excellent battery life due to its 3600 mAh battery capacity. Aside from fast charging, both phones also support wireless charging.
