The day is finally here and Samsung is expected to make the Galaxy S8 and S8+ official. But before the event kicks off in a few hours’ time, the tech giant has already confirmed that pre-orders for these two phones will kick off tonight starting at 23:00, but so far only China has been confirmed.
Among the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ rumors that have been doing rounds included the possible release date. Apparently, some had pointed towards the possibility of pre-orders beginning on the same date of the official launch. Well, it turns out this was indeed true, but we don’t know if more markets will be joining the party as early as today.
Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are without a doubt two of the worst kept secrets. Even though the Korean tech giant did everything possible to prevent the leaks from flying around, basically all major details of the two phones are already with us. It has been revealed that the phones will debut a new design language that ditches the usual physical buttons in favor of on-screen soft keys. This means that the fingerprint scanner moves to the back for the first time in Sammy’s history, but if you feel this is an awkward place to have this feature, you can turn to the front-facing iris scanner for authentication purposes.
The Galaxy S8 and S8+ models shipping to the U.S. will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, but other markets will get an Exynos 8895 SoC. The same 4GB RAM and 64GB of expandable storage is available on both phones, but the 5.8-inch S8 will have a 3000mAh battery while the 6.2-inch S8+ will be powered by a 3500mAh battery. Both phones will support fast charging technology and if reports are to be believed, they’ll be the first phones to come with Bluetooth v5.0.
It won’t be long before we find out these details.
