Samsung May Skip the Galaxy Note 6 for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7

The Samsung Galaxy Note 6 is one of the highly anticipated devices of 2016.

It is expected to come at a time when the Apple iPhone is expected to get significant new additions in terms of features. However, recent rumors state that Samsung may skip the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 entirely in favor of the next generation. Apparently, one of the reasons for Samsung rumored to be going in this direction is the nomenclature.

After having recently launched the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, Samsung may feel that it would be a little awkward to have the Samsung Galaxy Note ‘6’ at the top of its portfolio. Further, the South Korean company was also thought to be contemplating the launch of a Galaxy Note device with the Edge display. The Edge display has found great response in the past two editions of the Samsung Galaxy S series. Rather than come out with two variants of the Galaxy Note – just like the Galaxy S – it seems that Samsung may come out with just one Galaxy Note after all.

The phone was recently imported into India for testing purposes. It was caught on the Indian shipping database with the model number SM-N935. While the ‘N’ signifies that the device will belong to the Galaxy Note series, the ‘935’ seems that the device may have a just like the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge also came with the numbers (SM-G935).

Some of the aspects expected on the new device include a 5.8 inch display with QHD resolution. This marks a small improvement in terms of display size, but it is likely to result in an overall reduction in the dimensions of the phone. This will be done by the use of the curved display and reduced bezels. Higher end devices are starting to go beyond the 4 GB figure for RAM purposes. The Galaxy Note phones have always tried to offer the best in technology and this area is unlikely to be left out. The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is rumored to come with 6 GB of RAM.

One disappointment may be the use of the same 12-megapixel camera found on the Samsung Galaxy S7. Even though it is a comprehensive shooter, Galaxy Note series may miss out on the opportunity to feature a DSLR challenging camera. The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 could be launched ahead of schedule in August.
