Samsung is preparing to launch yet another mid-range smartphone in the markets worldwide, but China will be the first to receive the device in the next few days.
There have been several leaks about the Samsung Galaxy C5, but there were always doubts about whether Samsung would launch the phone in the US market. There is already a sizeable presence of mid-range devices in the US and the South Korean giant would have felt that the Samsung Galaxy C5 may not be able to offer much advantages over the others.
However, latest leaks have proved the assumption wrong, since Samsung indeed is preparing for the Samsung Galaxy C5 launch in the United States and it could be just a few days after the phone is unveiled in China on May 26. The device will come with model number SM-C5000 for the US markets.
The Samsung Galaxy C5 is expected to offer a 5.2 inch IPS LCD display with full HD resolution, which would mean a pixel density of just under 430 PPI. The dual SIM phone will be able to go head-to-head against a number of competitors from even higher segments with this kind of a resolution. This screen will be brilliant enough to display the 16 megapixel pictures from the rear camera in their absolute glory, if Samsung’s recent record in terms of mid-range screens is anything to go by. The rear camera is expected to be one of the best, since many of the algorithms and some parts will be shared with the higher end phones.
The device is expected to do away with the 16 GB internal memory option altogether. Instead, the Samsung Galaxy C5 may come with only 32 GB and 64 GB options along with microSD card support. At the moment, however, the extent to which the memory card support is provided remains unclear and will be available only at the launch of the phone. The talking point already has been the presence of 4 GB of RAM, which will be able to take advantage of the 64-bit android operating system. The Samsung Galaxy C5, however, is expected to offer the snapdragon 617 processor already seen in a number of phones like the Moto G4 Plus. This is a mid-range octa core processor which is clocked at 1.5 GHz.
Price of the Samsung Galaxy C5 is expected to be around $220 for the top end versions.
