There is a new January Android OTA update rolling out to not just Samsung Galaxy A3 2017, but also Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime and J7 2016.
Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 was launched last week and in fact, it is not out there yet. However, there is an update waiting for you once you get the phone out of the box. Those who successfully buy the new Galaxy A3 2017 will enjoy a new software bump to version A320YDXU1AQA1. While the phone comes with the year-old Android Marshmallow out of the box, this new software update doesn’t bring Android 7.0 Nougat to the phone, rather, it is accompanied by the latest January Android Security Patch.
Those using Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime will have a software update to version G610FDDU1AQA1 while those on the Galaxy J7 2016 will receive software version J7108ZHU1BPL6. Like the Galaxy A3 2017, none of these two software updates brings the latest Android Nougat update. The two Samsung Galaxy J7 handsets will be updated with the latest security patch like the counterpart, but it seems the patch is only rolling out to those using the Chinese variant of the J7 2017 thanks to the model number in question – SM-J7108, Android Soul notes.
Samsung has just begun rolling out Android Nougat to the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. With Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 being a mere midranger, it should see the new update come its way towards the end of Q1 or in early Q2 2017. The story should be about the same for the Galaxy J7 Prime and J7 2016, but since the A3 2017 is the newest, it is possible that it will receive the update ahead of these two.
Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 was launched together with Galaxy A5 2017 and Galaxy A7 2017, but there is no firmware update for the latter two. Nonetheless, it should be on its way.
