SEAT Leon and Mii Electric Cars Confirmed for 2019 Launch, More Models are in the Lineup

The electric car lineup grows as SEAT confirmed that they are planning to launch four different cars in the next few years.

As expected, there will be many of them powered by an electric motor and a battery pack.

The all-electric car will give a new lease of life for the brand apart from other models that are scheduled for launch. One of them is the SEAT Formentor SUV out of the four planned models while the last launch will be an electric car. The company’s chairman Luca De Meo commented that he is using an electric Mii city car to commute to this office everyday. The actual concept for the model is was revealed to the public at the Barcelona Mobile World Congress expo and the one that he is driving around is a developmental car. However, it is speculated that the eMii will be the first of many electric cars to hit stores.

Another source claims that the SEAT Leon with an all-electric setup is scheduled to get launched in 2019. The car will be mounted on top of the MQB platform and will have its design, features shared with the eGolf edition. Talking about the upcoming launches, De Meo also added that an Ibiza based on the MQB A0 platform is under production and the particular platform can readily accommodate an all-electric setup.

Volkswagen has been steadily spending a lot of money on researching and developing reliable electric cars. The innovations the company makes will largely favor SEAT and the brand will also gain the freedom to develop cars based on the platform approved by VW. Being a modular platform, it is easy to change it as per the designer’s need and to come up with impressive cars, commented Alejandro Mesonero.

“We are really excited to adopt it and come up with a car that is truly SEAT. The freedom we get by working on a versatile platform is immense and it will also offer the best aerodynamics. In order to make it a viable choice for electric cars, we have to reduce its overall height and the front fascia. The changes when combined with sloped windscreens and upright rear end leads to better fuel efficiency. The end product will be amazingly goodlooking and purely a SEAT car that we can be proud of,” said Mesonero, designed director at SEAT.
