Sony has officially confirmed that it will be attending the upcoming Mobile World Congress tech show (MWC 2017) in Barcelona, Spain.
The event will be used by many smartphone makers to showcase what they’ve got in store for us this 2017, with the likes of Samsung, Xiaomi, Lenovo/Motorola, LG and many others expected to attend the show. While quite a number of major names have confirmed their attendance, with Lenovo being the recent company to join the party, Sony has not confirmed that it will also be at the upcoming MWC 2017 show.
Like last year, the event will be held in February, but this time, it will extend into March. To be more specific, you should be there on February 27th by 8:30 AM CET, but Sony says that the doors will be open by 8:15 AM CET. It appears that Sony will hold its own press conference in order to showcase the new innovations it has for us, but nothing is known just yet about what the company has in store for this event.
Given that the MWC 2017 show is just weeks away, we expect to see leaks and speculations regarding Sony Xperia phones that could be launched at the event, with a recent rumor pointing towards a set of MediaTek Helio P20-powered phones in the pipes. In fact, one of the phones, which carries model number G3221, has already leaked via AnTuTu, but details of the other, which should come with model number G3121/G3112 are still scarce.

According to the leaked AnTuTu benchmark, the Sony Xperia G3221 will ship with a Full HD resolution screen believed to be 5.5 inches in size. The phone, as expected, will be powered by Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. As noted earlier, the processor running the show will be an Helio P20, which will be paired with a 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The back of the phone will ship with a 23MP snapper while the selfie camera will come with a 16MP shooter.
If all goes as per the rumors, this Sony Xperia G3221 should make an appearance at the upcoming MWC 2017 show alongside the other leaked models. We’ll our eyes open and update you with the latest news. Keep following!
