Sony albeit being rarely in the news is still working on new smartphones and have planned a Xperia Z1 Compact if we are to take the Geekbench listing into account.
The Xperia Z1 is a much bigger phone with the state of the art processor, camera performance and pushed sales to a good extent. The latest Geekbench listing showcases a new smartphone which comes with the model number Sony G8441. The original Z1 was the Sony G8341 and it is easy to claim that the new model which comes with a similar serial number could be the compact version of the flagship phone.
While it is evident that Sony is planning to keep things under control by making the Compact version a budget friendly device, the manufacturer has gone with a smaller display and the reduced it to a 720p resolution which seems like a wrong move. In a time when most flagship models are moving to 2K and 4K displays, the mid-range and entry level devices are often done with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Sony shouldn’t have decided to make it a 720p display which will hinder the overall user experience, especially for those who watch a lot of movies and consume Youtube videos on a regular basis.
The rumored Sony Xperia Z1 Compact features a neatly designed 4.6-inch display which is going to be its unique sales point. There are hardly any smartphones that are compact and easy to hold below the 5-inch display size. Samsung is going high with 6-inch and even bigger phones intimidating users with small hands and those who are not comfortable using a tablet like device as their mobile phone.
The display has a 720p HD resolution and is powered by latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB of RAM. The specifications are impressive as they are state-of-the-art and will provide a seamless experience especially considering the screen size and resolution which is also going to provide a very good battery life. Under the shell, the phone sports a moderate sized 2,800 mAh battery. It is being said that the phone will be revealed before the end of this year and will be priced appropriately so as to reach users on all levels.
Sony haven’t had any successful launches in the recent past except for the last Z1 and the rumored Xperia Z1 Compact could make them brand more appealing to young users who still love the brand for its style and presentation.
