Sony has been doing a not-so-bad job with rolling out updates to its phones and the latest to join the party is the 2015 Xperia Z5 flagship. Although the update started rolling out about a month ago, not all markets have received the OS just yet.
At the moment, the phone is receiving the update to Android 7.1.1 Nougat following a month of tests that started out last month, at least for those in Australia. Sony had already rolled out the update to Android 7.0 Nougat to the Xperia Z5 and as such, this is just an incremental update that adds a few features as well as irons out any issues that have been plaguing the original version of the OS.
Speaking of ironing out issues, it appears that this is actually not the case with respect to this Android 7.1.1 Nougat for Sony Xperia Z5 users. Apparently, there are some users of the phone that are reporting issues after the update to this new OS.
Early adopters of Android 7.1.1 Nougat on Sony Xperia Z5 are reporting sluggish performance since the update was installed. Furthermore, issues such as crashes, overheating of the device and reboots have become part and parcel of their day-to-day operations.
Some users have managed to alleviate the issues by disabling the Movie Creator app and then booting into Safe Mode. After this, boot the phone normally and the issue should be fixed. Note that this isn’t working for everyone, but Sony should come in with a permanent solution sooner than later.
