The flagship Sony Xperia Z5 Premium 2017 edition is about to be unveiled in a grand manner at the upcoming Mobile World Congress event.
The event is dedicated to smartphones and continues to attract all top players to unveil their newest models. Sony which has been going back and forth with some new models in the competitive industry might just win their users back with the Xperia Z5 Premium edition. Rumors were abound since last year that Sony is planning to comeback with a flagship model. It was brushed off to be speculations but a notable tipster named Ricciolo says that a premium device is indeed coming. He has already created hashtags for Xperia, Sony and Z5 Premium to support his claim and possibly believes that these hashtags will trend as soon as the announcement is made.
If you are an ardent Sony fanboy, this is probably not the time to get excited. In his statement, the tipster also added that the company may not launch the flagship model in an open conference. Instead, they will show it only to investors and media behind closed doors. If it is true, then the manufacturer is not done with the model yet and is still waiting for it to be finalized.
The specifications of the model as reported by a Georgian tech website are a large 5.5-inch display with a cool 4K resolution of 3840×2160 pixels. But, for a brand like Sony, it’s no big deal as they have already done the same with their Xperia Z5 Premium 2015 edition. The model had a 4K display and this is just a minor upgrade over the outgoing version. The blog also added that at least five different phones are in the making and they will launch it one after the other offering more choices for buyers.
Along with the 4K display, the phone will sport the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset with 4GB or 6GB RAM options and probably, 32GB or 64GB of storage space. With Sony IMX400 sensor, the camera should be the best in class on a smartphone. The only possible reason for this delay could be the news that Samsung has hoarded all the 835 processors that Qualcomm could produce. Some companies decided to go with an older chipset, LG is going with the newer one and Sony could be next in line waiting for new batches of SoC to be delivered to power the Xperia Z5 Premium 2017 edition.
The phone is expected to be available in stores by the second quarter of 2017.
