A mobile application called the Swasthya Samiksha has been launched in New Delhi, India.
The app enables all the Members of Parliament (MP) to track the reproductive health of the women in their constituencies and help them in bringing about some improvement.
Collaborative Work of NGO’s
A couple of non-profit organizations namely the Swaniti Initiative, White Ribbon Alliance India, and Centre for Catalysing Change have all come together to work collaboratively in launching the app, which should help the MPs to oversee the maternal health of women which can be related by indicators in their own constituencies.
Data of Just A Few States
The Swasthya Samiksha mobile app, which is still in its testing phase, will be providing data that will be categorized district-wise, as of now only for the Indian states of Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan.
Swasthya Samiksha to Provide Data through Indicators
The Executive Director of the Centre for Catalysing Change and National Coordinator of White Ribbon Alliance India had mentioned in a statement that the Swasthya Samiksha program has been aimed at engaging and encouraging the Members of Parliament towards taking all the steps that are necessary to ensure the better health of women in their constituencies. She also said that it is an attempt to provide all the data regarding the health indicators that point to the haleness and well-being of women in their constituencies, in a more convenient and in an easy way.
The Executive Director also added that they are working in line with Digital India, which is an initiative taken by the Indian Government and together are trying to jump on a technology which should make all the information accessible and provide a platform to the MPs where they will be able to access all this data and therefore, take appropriate steps towards improving the health of women.
The Swasthya Samiksha App will enable the MPs to keep a track of the indicators related to women’s health in real time in different locations at the district level in the Indian states. The app will have a display of indicators, which will also display the data to assess the impact apart from the policy updates regarding maternal and reproductive health. The app will also allow accessing comparison of data in between the different locations in the same district or state.
