T-Mobile’s Samsung Galaxy S8 Active leaked in full glory ahead of release

Samsung Galaxy S8 Active

For years now, Samsung has always followed the launch of the Galaxy S phones with a rugged version Active version.

Throughout the same years, this Active variant of the Galaxy S flagships was limited to AT&T’s carrier, but starting with the new Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, things will be a bit different. There have been rumors that the phone would make it to other carriers this year and indeed this is shaping to become true. At the launch of the phone on AT&T a couple of months ago, Samsung did hint at the latest development by saying that the Galaxy S8 Active will be an AT&T exclusive only for a limited time.

According to renowned leaker Evan Blass, T-Mobile has a new Samsung Galaxy S8 Active almost ready for launch. Those on AT&T have already received their version, but nothing is different from what T-Mobile users will be getting, if Blass is to be believed.

The leaked Samsung Galaxy S8 Active for T-Mobile carries model number SM-G892T and it should come in Meteor Gray color variant, but previous reports have also pointed towards a Titanium Gold color variant. Through AT&T, you can grab the S8 Active for $850, which shouldn’t be different when the phone launches on T-Mobile, but knowing the Magenta carrier, don’t be surprised if this phone launches with an irresistible offer straight out of the box.

In terms of specs, the S8 Active has a 5.8-inch flat-screen display screen that keeps the same Infinity Display feature of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ alongside a QHD+ resolution and 18.5:9 aspect ratio. In addition to rocking a Gorilla Glass 5 back panel, the phone also comes with a MIL-STD-810G compliant body that is also IP68-certified for dust and water resistance.

The processor running the show should be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 alongside 4GB RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. The cameras are also the same at 12MP on the back and 8MP for the front and so is the software, Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, but of course, this time there are T-Mobile’s customizations. As always, one of the standout features of the Galaxy S Active is the battery and the Galaxy S8 Active doesn’t disappoint, featuring a massive 4000mAh battery unit, which also supports Quick Charge 2.0 fast charging technology via a USB-C port.
