High School Years, the newest expansion pack in The Sims 4, was officially announced in June and launched recently.
As the title suggests, this particular DLC revolves around elements from one’s teenage years. It covers the high school experience of a Sim and therefore, carries a lot of appeal for younger players.
Though teenagers always had the opportunity to do their homework and spend time doing their school projects, the arrival of the High School Years expansion pack will enable players to experience high school or teenage life more closely. This expansion pack has also paved the way for the resolution of certain issues that have been plaguing the game for a long time.

The Sims 4 was launched in the year 2014 and since then, players have witnessed the arrival of numerous expansion packs for the game. While buying these expansion packs cost a lot of money, those who do get to enhance their overall gameplay experience. During its release, The Sims 4 received a lot of negative feedback owing to the fact that many of the much-loved features or elements from the earlier iterations of the game were not included in this one.
With High School Years, the developers seem to have made an attempt at incorporating certain elements in the game that would not only make the older fans happy but also offer new players something to look forward to. In the trailer itself, one can see a glimpse of after-school conversations, fun hangouts, cheerleading, football and several other activities that one gets to enjoy during their teenage years. Since The Sims, one has seen schools featured in the game. In each of the iterations of the game, the school has been represented differently. Those who have played The Sims and The Sims 2 would remember that school buildings were set off-screen and players wouldn’t really get an opportunity to visit or have an interaction with them. In The Sims 3, the school buildings were very small in size but thankfully, they found themselves being represented on the map.
One of the common criticisms against The Sims 4 is the fact that many of the jobs in the game and the architectural buildings in which Sims work have not been drawn out well. Because of this, players are not able to have proper interactions with their external world. The introduction of High School Years, one hopes, is the first step for the developers towards addressing this issue and resolving it.
