Unknown BlackBerry Android Phone Leaks Showing off Physical QWERTY Keyboard

BlackBerry conceded defeat in its quest to push BB10 OS as a competitor in the smartphone world – a world that is already dominated by the likes of Android and iOS.

In a bid to revive its mobile business, the Canadian tech giant came in with an Android-powered Priv – a flagship phone that brought out the best of BlackBerry and Android in one amazing package, but due to the pricing of the phone, there was little to no success. Earlier this year, the tech giant opted for a different approach towards things, launching the DTEK50 and DTEK60 – two phones that are designed to meet the current smartphone standards, be it in terms of specs or price, especially the latter model.

These two are part of the “at least three handsets” that BlackBerry promised to release this year and according to reports, the third device has been spotted in the wild.

Unlike the BlackBerry DTEK50 and DTEK60 handsets that did away with the traditional QWERTY keyboard that made the company such an iconic brand, the unconfirmed BlackBerry handset will attempt to bring together the best of both worlds. Apparently, the phone will come in with a touchscreen display alongside a physical keyboard.

Photos of the phone have been leaked on Chinese website Weibo and taking a closer look, the handset looks like a middle ground between BlackBerry Classic and Moto DROID. Despite the showing off the phone’s design, there is little to say about the specs and features of this upcoming BB phone. As a result, we can’t tell you anything about the resolution of the phone, the display size or even the processor that will be used to power it, but for sure, you can expect it to run Android Marshmallow out of the box.

When looking at the pricing of the DTEK50 and DTEK60, it is possible that the upcoming BlackBerry device will fall somewhere between the two, but it won’t go beyond the DTEK60, which is the high-end variant of the two models already in the market. Furthermore, the leaks did not reveal anything regarding the launch of the phone but given that the company had promised to unveil at least three devices this year, it is possible that this handset will be announced just in time for the Christmas craze.
