About a week ago, the Sony Xperia X Compact was made officially available for preorders on the leading online retailer Amazon. Now, as expected, the phone is now up for grabs on the same platform.
While at the time of preordering the phone was being sold with $50 credit, the phone is now selling for $499.99 on Amazon. The phone was launched at the IFA 2016 event alongside the Xperia XZ flagship, which should also be available for purchase in the coming days.
As at the time of this writing, the Xperia X Compact can only be found on Amazon and nowhere else. But of course, this should only last for a few days or weeks and the same phone should also be available through other major retailers such as Best Buy.
Sony has remained keen with its small-handed market, constantly releasing a smaller version of its flagships to meet the needs of this category. Last year saw the release of a Xperia Z5 Compact, a phone that took everything that was contained on the standard Xperia Z5, expect for the size. The case is a slightly different this time, with the Xperia X Compact making some changes under the hood, changes that many might not welcome, especially when looking at the price tag of the phone.
The Sony Xperia X Compact has a 4.6-inch HD display screen with a 720p resolution. There is a weaker Snapdragon 650 SoC under the hood and this is paired with a RAM of 3GB alongside onboard storage of 32GB. As usual, there is room for microSD card storage. The latest USB Type-C port is on board alongside support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology.
Sony is known for what it is capable of in the camera sector and it doesn’t disappoint with the Xperia X Compact. The phone keeps the same 23MP snapper on the back as what you see on 2016 flagships, but there is still no Android Nougat as the handset comes preinstalled with Android Marshmallow.
The preordered units should already have started jetting in, but for those who had not preordered one, you are free to check out this Amazon link. In case you stumble across any other retailer selling the Xperia X Compact, please feel free to share with us the details in the comments section.
