An upcoming Xiaomi phone that bears the codename ‘Xiaomi Uranus’ has been found in a new Geekbench listing today.
[Updated:] A few hours after finding the Geekbench listing of Xiaomi Uranus, we have now found another Geekbench listing for the phone Xiaomi POCO F1 Lite! The single and multi-core scores of both listings are similar and all other features including Snapdragon 660 SoC, 4GB RAM and 1.61 GHz clock speed are the same. This leads us to conclude that ‘Uranus’ is actually the codename for the upcoming Xiaomi POCO F1 phone. The original POCO F1 scored considerably higher points in both single and multi core points in Geekbench when compared to the new Lite version spotted today.
As always, Geekbench listing has revealed only certain information about the phone and we see the presence of Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC powering the device and it clocks at a speed of 1.61 GHz. The phone has a RAM capacity of 4 GB and it will come with Android 9 Pie OS out of the box. The phone has scored 1329 in single-core score and 4821 points in multi-core score. These are the only details known from the Geekbench listing.
Here’s why we believe it could be part of the ‘Mi’ Series:
Xiaomi has used the names of constellations for its Mi series smartphones. Xiaomi Mi 5s plus was codenamed ‘Natrium’ and Xiaomi Mi 5s was codenamed ‘Capricorn’. Xiaomi Mi 5 was given the codename ‘Gemini’.
The latest phones including Xiaomi Mi 9 SE, Mi 9, Mi 8 Pro, Mi 8, Mi 8 SE were all named after constellations namely ‘Grus’, ‘Cepheus’, ‘Equuleus’, ‘Ursa major’ and ‘Sirius’ respectively.
With the above facts, we can make a safe guess that the upcoming ‘Xiaomi Uranus’ could well be an upcoming Mi series phone. The scores of Xiaomi Uranus, however, are much lower than the flagship phones of the ‘Mi’ series. This could be a mid range offering from Xiaomi or could also belong to a new series.
Let’s wait for more details to know the real identity of the phone.
