Update for Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 Edge – More than Business as Usual

Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge

Both Samsung Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge have been very well received among Android users.

They were both launched in March and are flagship phones from the Korean Giant, Samsung. Both these devices succeeded in capturing a market share of 5.8% during the first quarter of this year. It is expected that they will outperform sales by the iPhone 6S or the 6S Plus for this quarter. However, there are some issues, bugs and flaws and Samsung has been regularly offering updates to solve these and eliminate the shortcomings of these two new devices.

Something Extraordinary

On a nearly monthly basis, Samsung has been bringing in updates for their latest flagship smartphones, such as the S7 and the S7 Edge. There were problems like an oversensitive display, which opened or closed an app unintentionally and the intermittent connectivity of the Bluetooth, among others. However, the recent firmware updates bring in something significant, with both the timing and the nature of its update proving to be extraordinary.

Normally, Samsung offers generic notes citing some bug fixing or enhancement in the performance of the phone. However, the latest updates have addressed some particular issues. Though the list of issues that the updates have addressed is quite limited, the files are heavy at 332 MB in case of the S7 and 353 MB in case of S7 Edge. This update comes with the firmware version of FXXU1APE9, in case of both the S7 and the S7 Edge.

What’s New?

To name one, when you opt for the Always On Display option, the screen clarity seems to have improved. In addition, recognition of cover has been addressed. The video playback used to flicker after recording and this has also received attention. Users can also keep Google Now running while turning off the Power Saving mode. Previously, it was not possible to disable the mode with Google Now running. There were also some issues regarding inability to save the files on the microSD cards at times. This has also been addressed in the latest updates.

Grab Your Update

Getting the latest update on your S7 or S7 Edge is the same as usual. Users will get notifications with regard to OTA update. But as the update has only just been rolled out, it could take some time before the OTA notifications show up on all devices. However, even if they have not received pop ups for the update, they can manually check out the update. They can go to Settings and About device and download it immediately. All they need to ensure is that the battery is more than fifty percent on their device and the phone should be connected to a Wi Fi service. Otherwise the data charges could be quite heavy.

To Sum Up

The latest updates for the S7 and the S7 Edge include some interesting new functions along with enhancements to functions and bug fixing. However, the changes might differ according to the device, the country, the provider or the model of your phone. With this update, it becomes much easier to handle the phone with a single hand.
