Samsung was again the first smartphone brand to release the newest security patch. The international version of the Galaxy S20 series, S21 series, and Note 20 series have already started receiving the October 2021 security patch, and now the US carrier Verizon has released the new security update. Galaxy Tab S7 5G and Tab S7+ 5G are also receiving a new update that only brings several performance improvements, no new security updates.
Samsung Galaxy S20 Series
October 2021 security update has started rolling out to the Verizon-bound Galaxy S20 5G, S20+ 5G, and S20 Ultra 5G. As detailed by Samsung, the new security patch fixes over 60 system security and privacy-related vulnerabilities. The new software update comes as the 18th system update for Galaxy S21 5G, while S21+ and S21 Ultra are receiving their 21st system update.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Series
Galaxy S21 5G, S21+ 5G, and S21 Ultra 5G on Verizon’s network are receiving the October 2021 security update. It is a minor security update. So, don’t expect to see any new features, performance improvements, or UI changes. It is rolling out as the 10th system update for Galaxy S21 series.
Samsung Galaxy Note20 Series
System update number 16 is now rolling out to Verizon’s Galaxy Note20 5G and Note20 Ultra 5G. It brings the Android security patch level to October 2021 for system security and privacy improvements. The changelog has no mention of any other changes, apart from a new security patch.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 5G and Galaxy Tab S7+ 5G
Verizon-bound Galaxy Tab S7 5G and Galaxy Tab S7+ 5G are receiving the 8th system update that brings the performance improvements to the devices. The update does not include a new security patch, new features, or UI changes.
