The new software update from Verizon brings a major OS upgrade to the LG K51, while all other devices are receiving a new security update.
Verizon has released a new software update to the Galaxy S20 series that brings the November 2021 security update, while the Galaxy Note 20 series is getting the October 2021 security update and BYOD support. Motorola Moto G Power, Moto G Power (2021), and Moto G Stylus are also getting the October 2021 security update, while LG K51 is upgrading itself to Android 11. LG K51
The LG K51 was released last year running Android 10 OS. The device is now getting receiving its first major OS upgrade from Verizon that brings Android 11. It should bring all the Android 11 features such as chat bubbles, permission auto reset, one-time permission, better privacy controls, and more. The update also brings the Android security patch level to September 2021. It is the system update number 10 for the LG K51 on Verizon’s network.
Samsung Galaxy S20 series
Samsung was the first to release the November 2021 security update, which has already reached the international version of the Galaxy S20 and S21 series. Now, Verizon has started rolling out the newest security patch to Galaxy S20 5G, Galaxy S20+ 5G, Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G, and Galaxy S20 FE 5G. It is rolling out as the 19th system update for Galaxy S20 5G, 22nd for Galaxy S20+ 5G / S20 Ultra 5G, and 15th system update for Galaxy S20 FE 5G.
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series
System update number 17 has started rolling out to the Verizon-bound Galaxy Note 20 5G and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G. It brings the October 2021 security patch that fixes over 50 vulnerabilities related to system security and privacy. The update also brings the BYOD (“bring your own device”) feature that makes it easy to switch to Verizon. Verizon has added the Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS) feature that allows the device to use two phone numbers on the same or different networks with Dual SIM support.
Moto G Power, Moto G Power (2021), and Moto G Stylus
Verizon has released a new software update to Moto G Power, Moto G Power (2021), and Moto G Stylus that brings the October 2021 security update. The changelog has no mention of any other changes, apart from a new security patch. So, don’t expect the update to bring new features, UI changes, or performance improvements. It is the 10th system update for Moto G Power, 4th for Moto G Power (2021), and 11th for the Moto G Stylus.
