Verizon has now released the next major OS upgrade, Android 12, to the Pixel 3 series, Pixel 4 series, and Pixel 5. It brings loads of new features, improvements, widgets, and more. The LG G Pad 10.5 and Nokia 3V, on the other hand, are receiving the October 2021 security patch. Take a more detailed look at the new changes in their respective section.
Google Pixel 3 series, Pixel 4 series, and Pixel 5
The new software update brings the Android 12 OS to the Pixel 3 series, Pixel 4 series, and Pixel 5 on Verizon’s network. According to the changelog, the new version of Android OS brings the “color extraction” feature, which automatically adjusts the system colors based on the dominant color in the wallpaper. The color adjustment applies to the entire OS, including the areas such as notification shade, the lock screen, the volume controls, new widgets, and more.
Android 12 brings improved touch responsiveness, smoother animation, and better power efficiency. It is claimed to reduce CPU usage by up to 22% and up to 15% reduction in big cores usage by the system server. It brings a design overhaul to the notification shade, quick settings, and the power button menu. With a long press of the power button, you will be able to make a phone call, open apps, ask questions or read aloud text-heavy articles.
The latest version of Android brings a new privacy dashboard, which tells you about which app is using which permissions. Another new cool privacy feature is that a microphone or camera icon will appear at the top-right of the status bar, whenever an app uses the camera/microphone.
LG G Pad 5 10.1
Verizon-bound LG G Pad 5 10.1 is receiving a new software update that brings the October 2021 security patch. It is a minor security patch and hence, does not bring any major changes like UI changes or new features. It is rolling out as the system update 7 for the LG device.
Nokia 3 V
System update 10 is now rolling out to the Nokia 3 V on Verizon’s network. It brings the Android security patch level to October 2021, which improves system security and privacy by fixing a bunch of vulnerabilities. The changelog has no mention of any other changes, apart from a new security patch.
