Xiaomi 12 Will Undergo Mass Production This Month

Xiaomi will start mass-producing vanilla Xiaomi 12 this month, which is expected to be released by the end of 2021.

Xiaomi’s next flagship series is the talk of the town, which is expected to launch in China by the end of this year. As per the recent leaks, the Chinese tech giant will bring three devices under the Xiaomi 12 series – Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and Xiaomi 12 Ultra. The devices have been in the rumor mill for a while, revealing key details about the phone.

While the company is yet to break its silence about the next flagship series, a reliable Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station claims that the company will start mass-producing the standard Xiaomi 12 this month. And, the high-end Pro and Ultra models will undergo mass production later.

Xiaomi 12 series leak

According to a recent leak by Weibo tipster Bald Panda, Xiaomi will upgrade the telephoto lens in the Ultra model. The 1/2-inch 48MP sensor in Mi 11 Ultra will be upgraded to a 1/1.5-inch 50MP sensor in the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. It was earlier rumored that Xiaomi 12 series (or, at least, the Ultra model) will feature Samsung’s 200MP sensor. However, reports suggest that the Ultra model will have a trio of 50MP sensors.

Last week, alleged hands-on images of Xiaomi 12 surfaced on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo. It revealed that the device has a power button and volume rockers on the right side. The bottom side has the necessary cutouts for a USB Type-C port, speaker grille, and sim tray. The phone appears to have a tall screen and a centered punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. Not many details can be grabbed, as the device was intentionally covered with an odd-looking case.

Xiaomi 12 could be powered by the unannounced Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 chipset. This upcoming chipset is said to build on a 4nm process. As of now, there’s no word from Xiaomi about the Xiaomi 12 series. However, recent reports suggest that the vanilla Xiaomi 12 will launch by the end of this year, most probably in December, while the Pro and Ultra models will be released earlier next year.
