Just recently Verizon Wireless started rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat update to the Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Droid Force.
This is despite the fact that the OS has been around since August 22. Nonetheless, it is strange for the carrier, which is usually known as the slowest when it comes to rolling out major software updates, to come in with Android 7.0 Nougat for the Moto Z Droid lineup at this time. But is happening and in fact, the update has a number of new additions to watch out for.
In addition to coming in with the latest Android 7.0 Nougat, the Verizon Wireless’ OTA update also adds Daydream VR support to the two Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Droid Force phones. The new Android OS brings the support for this VR platform to the two phones after debuting it with Google’s own phones – the Pixel and Pixel XL – in October.
Mark you that there is Android 7.1 Nougat which comes preinstalled on Google Pixel and Pixel. If anything, these are the only devices that have a stable version of this latest OS installed. As for the rest, it’s either a beta version or a stable version of Android 7.0 Nougat.
Given that Verizon Wireless has included Android 7.0 Nougat in the Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Droid Force OTA update, it is quite heavy, weighing a massive 1586MB. With this in mind, you get better a Wi-Fi connection before attempting the download and installation process. Also, ensure that your Moto Z Droid phone is connected to a power source or has at least 50% battery juice.
Like other OTA updates, not all users of Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Droid Force will receive the update to Android 7.0 Nougat at once. In fact, there are still others out there who haven’t received it despite Verizon having made it available. But don’t panic, it won’t be long before you see an OTA notification for the update.
