Verizon users of Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge can brace themselves for a new, small but very important OTA update that has already started rolling out.
The update carries software version G935VVRU4BQA4 and according to the Big Red, the update comes with enhancements and improvements to your Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, among them enhanced Wi-Fi performance. The carrier doesn’t go into much details regarding what other updates this OTA brings to the S7 Edge. In addition, there’s still no confirmation whether or not this same update will also be rolled out to the standard Samsung Galaxy S7.
Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is already running on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat, an update that the carrier rolled out a few weeks ago alongside the Galaxy S7. As a result, the currently rolling out OTA update is based on Nougat.
Just like any other small update, this one should also take care of a bunch of bugs and errors that have popped up since the update to Android 7.0 Nougat as well as improve stability and system performance. So make sure that you download and install it on your phone.
As noted, Verizon is rolling out the update over the air and as such, the process will be gradual. In fact, some people have already received the OTA notification as at the time of this writing, but others may have to wait for days before the same comes their way. If you can’t wait, there’s a way to trigger the download manually by heading to Settings>About phone>System updates>Check for updates.
If the download is ready for your device, you should be able to get it immediately the phone is done checking for system updates’ availability. But before you proceed with downloading and installing it, do make sure that your phone is at least 50% charged and that you are connected to the internet via Wi-Fi.
