Vivo Y91 (vivo 1814) is the next offering you can expect from the smartphone maker as evidenced by the certification the phone has received in Thailand.
Vivo Philippines had recently launched a phone with a similar model name, the Vivo Y91 just after it had launched the other variant the Vivo Y91i in the country. The images of Vivo Y91 were leaked last week in a Taiwan’s certification body, NCC.
Now that the phones have been certified in Thailand as well as Taiwan, one can expect the company to cover the different Asian markets with the two budget segment phones anticipating the holiday season and shopping frenzy ahead.
Vivo Y91i vs Vivo Y91 Comparison
There is hardly any big difference in the specifications of the two variants except in the RAM and internal storage capacity. Both phones sport 6.22 inch full view HD + displays with the screen resolution reading 1520×720 pixels. The processor fitted on these phones is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC. While the Vivo Y91 has a higher 3 GB RAM, the Vivo Y91i has a RAM of only 2 GB.
The internal storage in the 3 GB Y91 is 32 GB and in the Vivo Y91i it is 16 GB. The 4030 mAh battery and the camera setup with a dual 13 MP + 2 MP sensor in the rear and an 8MP sensor for selfies in the front complete the main hardware specifications. Both the phones ship with the Android Oreo version 8.1 OS. Vivo’s FunTouch UI is bound to figure on top of the stock Android OS as most Chinese manufacturers do.
The other features include the 3.5 mm audio out jack and the USB 2.0 port. The full complement of communication choices and sensors on board will be included.
On the pricing front, Vivo has kept the price of the Vivo Y91 at P9,999 and the Y91i at P8,499. These convert to US$189 and 162 respectively.
Budget Phones Aimed at a Certain Segment of Buyers
Smartphone manufacturers have perfected the art of targeting specific segments of the market with their offerings. The countries in Asia, comprising markets like Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia and India and possibly some Latin American nations, have large sections of aspirational smartphone buyers who would want to own a 6 inch+ display phone but may not be in a position to afford. These models perfectly fit the bill for these buyers.
