A new smartphone named “Vivo NEX A” has surfaced on the website of the China’s 3C certification body.
It could be the variant of the Vivo NEX phone that was certified with “Vivo NEX S” by the same Chinese agency earlier this week. Like the Vivo NEX S, the newly spotted NEX A also carries support for 5V/2A, 9V/2A and 10V/2.25A charging rates. This suggests both the variants are slated to carry support for fast charging through USB-C.
Speculations are rife that the upcoming Vivo NEX smartphone will be arriving in two chipset versions. The base model of the phone is expected Snapdragon 710 SoC, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The design of this variant could be different from the higher model. The base model is speculated to feature a selfie snapper on its bottom bezel like the Xiaomi Mi MIX phone.
The top variant is rumored to be driven by Snapdragon 845 chipset and 8 GB of RAM. It will be arriving with a larger internal storage of 256 GB and it is speculated to feature a pop-up selfie camera. The recent 3C certifications suggest that either of these devices could be Vivo NEX A or NEX S.
Earlier this year, Vivo had showcased the Vivo APEX concept phone with some advanced specs and features like Snapdragon 845, half-screen fingerprint reader, pop-up front-facing camera and highest screen-to-body ratio. Rumors have it that the Chinese manufacturer has decided to rebrand the Vivo APEX as Vivo NEX. This has been confirmed through the official launch poster that was released by the company earlier today. It states that the Vivo NEX will be unveiled on June 12 at Shanghai, China.
In related news, a mysterious Vivo device labelled as V1801A0 was spotted on the website of China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (CMIIT) at the beginning of May. At that time, it was speculated that it could be Vivo Z1. However, now that the same V1801A0 device has surfaced on 3C’s website on May 31 i.e. after the launch of Z1, it appears that it could be an upcoming mid-range smartphone from Vivo as it carries support for 5V/2A (10W) charging.
