The Volkswagen Passat GTE Hybrid took a really long time to finally arrive in the UK shores but the car is finally out and pricing for the model starts at £34,025.
The automobile manufacturer earlier promised that they will bring it as soon as the official launch takes place. However, it took more than a year for the company to acquire the necessary plug-in grant from the UK government before they made the vehicle official. The year long wait has pushed many of its potential buyers towards other brands who had their cars ready to be driven off from the dealership stores.
Volkswagen showcased the GTE in the year 2014 and it was said to be able to deliver 166 miles per gallon. The mile range included the electric motor bundled alongside the petrol and diesel engine variants. The car offers both estate and saloon variants. The top of the line is priced at £39,230. The Passat GTE has many of its features borrowed from the Golf GTE including the powertrain.
On the inside, you will find that the Volkswagen Passat GTE hybrid is powered by a 1.4-liter four-cylinder which is already being used by the Golf edition. The car can deliver a total of 154 horsepowerand it gets boosted up to 215 horsepower in the hybrid variant. It’s the collective performance of the model including the built-in electric motor. Compared to the Golf, the Passat delivers 14 horsepower more so as to mark its supremacy over the other model from the VW family.The model uses a six speed automatic gearbox. It can accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 7.6 seconds with a top speed pegged at 140 miles per hour.
Volkswagen confirmed that the car can go up to 31 miles when running on the electric motors. The number if significantly lower as Tesla has already pushed their budget friendly car to 200 miles on a single charge. More automobile manufacturers are catching up and this is the time for VW to revamp its electrified vehicles to be on par with the industry standard. The auto brand offers a quick charging function to allow the car to reach full charge in less than two hours.
Volkswagen Passat GTE Hybrid has the GTE badge located in the grille and a blue line that runs through the headlight giving it a sporty look. The color tone is carried out in the interiors of the car as well.
