Xiaomi had launched today, two updated and brand new variants of the Mi Notebook Air. The event to launch the new products was held in the China.
The original version of the Mi Notebook Air was launched some time back in July. The newly updated Mi Notebook Air will run on Windows 10 and it will also support the 4G network connectivity in China. Xiaomi has worked in collaboration with China Mobile in order to offer the 4 GB data of 4G network connectivity every month for free for the users, which totals up to 48 GB for the whole year. The laptops have been designed to natively support the networks of the telecom operator without having to use any separate SIM card. Xiaomi has launched two new variants of the new Mi Notebook air, of which, the larger model comes with a 13.3-inch display and the other smaller version features a 12.5-inch display.
The Larger Variant of the Mi Notebook Air
The larger variant of Mi Notebook Air which arrives with a 13.3-inch display screen variant comes powered by an Intel Core i5 processor for non-4G variant and the 4G variant is supported by a 6th-generation Intel Core i7 processor with 2 cores, 4 threads, and a max clock speed of 3.0GHz, which according to the company is bound to provide the laptop with 10% extra improvement than the Core i5 processor. The laptop will run on Windows 10 Home. According to a report by windowslatest, apart from the NVIDIA GeForce 940MX GPU dedicated graphics card, the Mi Notebook Air includes 8GB of DDR4 RAM, 1GB of GDDR5 VRAM, and 256GB PCIe SSD storage with expandable second SSD slot support. The Mi Notebook Air will be offering a battery life of 9.5 hours. The laptop can be charged up to 50% within just 30 minutes. The new Mi Notebook Air is featherweight as it weighs just 1.28 kg and it has a thickness of 14.8 mm. It has a full metal body. The polished exterior comes without a logo, which gives the device a premium look.
The Smaller Variant of the Mi Notebook Air
According to windowslatest, the smaller variant of the Mi Notebook Air which comes with a 12.5 inch display is power driven by the Intel Core M3 processor and it runs on the Windows 10 Home. The laptop offers a battery life of 11.5 hours. The other specifications of the laptop include a 4 GB LPDDR3 RAM (1866MHz) and it also offers a 128 GB SATA SSD which is expandable through a second SSD slot. With a full metal body on the back and on the sides, the Mi Notebook Air comes with a 1080p FHD screen Edge-to-edge protective glass, AKG dual speakers with Dolby Digital Surround sound support, Bluetooth v4.1 and Wi-Fi 802.11ac. The laptop also comes with one HDMI port, 2 USB 3.0 ports, a Type-C USB port, and a 3.5-mm headphone jack. It is 12.9 mm in thickness and weighs just 1.07kg, which gives the device an even classier look.
Pricing of the Mi Notebook Air
While the new Mi Notebook Air of 12.5-inch display screen, which is 4G enabled, comes at a price of CNY 4,699 in China, with the international variant costing around $670, the larger variant of 4G enabled Mi Notebook Air which comes with a 13.3-inch display, will be available for CNY 6,999 in China, which will roughly cost around $1000 in the international market.
The non-4G variants of the Mi Notebook Air which were launched back in July were previously priced at CNY 3,499 for the 12.5-inch variant, and for the 13.3-inch variant, the cost was CNY 4,999. The extra premium price can probably be attributed to the 4G data plan, which is supposed to be worth CNY 1,560 per annum. However, there are few more upgrades that exist on the specifications front exclusively for the 13.3-inch variant.
