Xiaomi Mi 8 SE Spotted with Android Q on Geekbench after Pixel and Pixel 3 XL

A Geekbench listing of Xiaomi Mi 8 SE running on Android Q has been spotted.

The smartphone is yet to receive Android 9 Pie update. However, the appearance of the phone with Android Q onboard suggests that Xiaomi could be testing the next years’ Android version on it.

Recently, the Google Pixel 3 XL phone was spotted with Android Q (Android 10). Few days later, Nashville Chatter Class was the first one to spot the older Google Pixel running on Android Q. Today, we are the first to find the unannounced Android Q OS running on a non-Google smartphone. So far, very few Xiaomi phones such as the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S and Mi A2 phones have been treated with Android 9 Pie OS. It appears that it may take couple of more months for eligible smartphones to receive Android 9 Pie update.

Google may release the first Developer Preview of Android Q by the end of first Q1 2019. The features of the Android Q may get showcased at the Google I/O 2019 event in May followed by a market released in August. Some of the speculated features that are expected to arrive on Android Q are support for foldable phone, native support for split-screen mode, enhanced treble support and more.

As far as Xiaomi Mi 8 SE is concerned, the smartphone has already appeared on Geekbench with Android 9 Pie at the beginning of this month. Moreover, the company has also rolled out Android 9 Pie open beta version for the smartphone. This indicates that the arrival of the stable version of the MIUI 10 flavored Android 9 Pie OS for the Mi 8 SE may not be far away. Probably, it may receive the Android 9 update in the first quarter of the coming year.
