Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Coral Blue variant teased by CEO Lei Jun

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun was in Switzerland to celebrate the Sprint Festival or rather Chinese New Year in style, but he was also on another mission – to tease the Coral Blue color variant of the curved edge Xiaomi Mi Note 2 flagship.

Released in 2016, the Mi Note 2 is an eye-catching phone already and now that it’s getting a Coral Blue color variant makes it an even more interesting phone. Remember the Galaxy Note 7 that had a similar Coral Blue finish and a curved edge screen? Well, the only things the Mi Note 2 lacks here are the stylus, Edge software, and the iris scanner, otherwise, this phone will resemble the Note 7 in almost all design aspects.

While in Switzerland, apparently on a mission to enjoy the ski resorts in the country, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun is seen holding a very unique phone that seems to be a new, unreleased finish of the Mi Note 2 flagship. The photo shows off the phone covered in blue and in fact, Jun goes ahead to confirm that indeed what he was holding is a Xiaomi Mi Note 2 phone.

Unfortunately, the tech mogul did not reveal the specific date as to when this Coral Blue color variant of the Note 2 will be unveiled. But this indeed confirms previous rumors, even before the phone was launched, that there will be a Coral Blue color variant, similar to the one that Samsung reproduced on the Galaxy S7 Edge after the death of the Note 7.

Despite the changed looks, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 should keep the same hardware specs. These include a 5.7-inch Full HD screen with 386ppi pixel density, a Snapdragon 821 processor with either 4GB/64GB or 6GB/128GB, but the latter is the likeliest to be given the nod. The back has a huge 22.5MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, EIS, and dual-tone LED flash, among others. The front has an 8MP shooter with the same aperture and AF. The fingerprint scanner is on the front and to keep it alive, it has a huge 4070mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0 technology.

Currently, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is available in Silver, Gold and Black color variants.
