Xiaomi Redmi Note 3

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is one of the devices that were launched at the beginning of 2016 and back then, the phone came in with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box.

Along the way, this Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 was updated to the year-old Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, but the journey of this phone is not about to end with this sixth installation of the Android OS. According to a new Geekbench listing, it appears that the Chinese company is preparing to upgrade the Redmi Note 3 to the latest Android 7.1 Nougat.

This is great news for those who own this phone as it was not expected that the phone will be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat this soon. On the contrary, the fact that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has made an appearance on Geekbench doesn’t, in any case, imply that the company is done with testing the OS and it’s ready to roll out it. It could take another long period of waiting before this happens, so, don’t get too jumpy about this.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 spotted in the benchmark has a Qualcomm octa-core processor clocked at a speed of 1.4GHz, which is the Snapdragon 650 that powers the phone. The Redmi Note 3 in question here has a RAM of 2GB, but the device has another higher end variant that comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage.
