The Xiaomi Note 5 series has finally launched the first smartphone of the series, the Note 5A.
This is the replacement handheld for the Note 4 series and will be launched in two edition variants – the Standard Edition, and the High Edition. One of the most attractive features of this phone is the 16 MP camera which will allows for better pictures compared to other phones falling in the same price category.
The Standard Edition and High Edition variants will have three different RAM capacities.
- The base variant – having 2GB RAM and 16 GB storage space and going at the price of $105.
- The premium variant 1 – will have a fingerprint scanner and some added features. The device will sport 3GB RAM and 32GB storage space. It will be priced at $135.
- The premium variant 2 – will also have a fingerprint scanner and the highest features. It will have a capacity of 4GB RAM and 64 GB storage space. This one will go for $180
The three variants will be available in three color options
- Champagne Gold
- Rose Gold
- Platinum Silver
Specifications of the base variant
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A will come with capacitative navigations buttons at the front, antenna bands at the back, an aesthetic metal unibody and a 13 MP camera at the back and a 5 MP camera at the front. Unlike most flagship Smartphones of the year 2017, the Note 5A will come with a 3.5mm audio jack at the top of the phone, so people who have the earphones can heave a sigh of relief. It will also have a USB Type-C port in order to keep up with the devices released this year.
Now consider the feature that is causing ripples among the Xiaomi community – the camera setup. There will be a 13 megapixel camera and the back with a PDAF, LED Flash, f/2.2 aperture, real-time filters and supports HDR. This shows that the device will be able to take high resolution video and still footage. The front will have a 5 megapixel camera for taking selfies, with f/2.0 aperture.
The base variant of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A will operate on the most-recent MIUI 9 software. The card will have a MicroSD slot for the expansion of storage space, up to 128GB. It will also have 2 SIM card slots. The screen has a HD resolution of 720X1280 pixels and is 5.5 inches in size. The device comes with a Snapdragon 425 SoC processor and an Adreno 308 GPU.
For connectivity it will have GPS + GLONASS, WiFi Direct, 4G, WiFi 802.11 /b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.2. The sensors will be a compass, distance, acceleration, infrared, gyro and ambient light.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A will come with a 3080 mAh battery that has the capacity for 35 hours of calling time and 11 days on standby. This phone weighs about 150 grams and has dimensions of 153X7.5X76.2 mm
Specifications of the premium variants
The premium variants will both have added features such as mentioned before. These include higher RAM and Storage capacities. The main difference between the base and premium variants is that the latter will come with a fingerprint scanner at the back of the phone for added security.
Another difference is the processors used in the premium versions – a Snapdragon 435 Octa-core chipset with an Adreno 505 GPU.
The front camera of the premium version will have 16 megapixels, f/2.0 aperture, and a 76 degree wide-angle sensor that has its own independent light flash and real-time filters to be used when making video calls.
The other specifications of the premium variants are similar to those of the base variant.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A has done a great job of coming up with features that are found on high-end Smartphones from big-name manufacturers. Although not all features are comparable to Samsung, LG or iPhone, the device will be great for those looking for powerful phones at the lower end of the price spectrum. Although it is being marketed mainly on the basis of its powerful camera, it also has many other features to offer as seen above.
