The Xiaomi Mi 5S looks on set to go official in the next few weeks after it was spotted on AnTuTu benchmark tests.
The device was earlier leaked on the Chinese 3C regulatory body with specifications that are hardly the work of a lesser-known Chinese manufacturer. Instead, those specifications revealed a device that would be going head-on with some of the best phones in the market. Most of those specs may turn out to be true after they were spotted on the benchmark tests. Xiaomi is truly gearing up for the next level and the Xiaomi Mi 5S maybe the device to kick-start things.
One for most aspects of the Xiaomi Mi 5S which will be appealing to every buyer is the use of a snapdragon 821 processor. Of course, this phone will not be the first in the market to feature this brand-new processor, but it will enable the device to even perform better than phones like the recently launched OnePlus 3. The latter has been making a lot of waves in the smartphone segment with its class leading performance at a price of just $400. Xiaomi Mi 5S is likely to be a huge hit if it manages to hit the OnePlus 3 price range with much compromises. It seems to be the case from early specification leaks.
The device is set to come with a full HD display but without revealing details about the size. Given that most smartphones coming out of China in recent years have been featuring a 5.5 inch screen, it is more than likely that the Xiaomi Mi 5S will adopt a similar philosophy. Recently, though, suggested that the phone may go with a 5.15 inch display, which will benefit pixel density at the compromise of screen real estate. One of the big aspects of the Xiaomi Mi 5S that would get everyone talking is the potential presence of 6 GB of RAM, thus bringing it on par with the OnePlus 3 in this regard.
At present, few phones can match the multitasking capabilities of the OnePlus 3 – especially after the recent update to fully take advantage of the available RAM – and it could be a similar story with the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5S as well. For a phone with just over a 5.1 inch display, the potential presence of a 3490 mAh battery will be a huge boost in terms of battery life.
