The XiaomiMi 6 posts an AnTuTu score that beats the highest one so far posted by Apple’s iPhone 7.
The Mi 6 will also sport the Snapdragon 835, SoC, which is an upgrade over the 2016 flagship smartphone.
The CES is officially ended and the companies have returned to work on the next devices. Xiaomi is probably the first one offering its upcoming XiaomiMi 6 with the new Snapdragon processor. A screen shot has been posted in Weibo claiming to be taken on the prototype version of the XiaomiMi 6 device. The score is shown as 210329, after running the AnTuTu. The score is higher than that shown by any other Android device.
Flagship for 2017
Xiaomi is slated for launching the XiaomiMi 6, its flagship smartphone for 2017 at the MWC. Recent leaks suggest that the device has scored more than the Apple iPhone 7 on AnTuTu, a benchmarking platform. GizmoChina shows the score of the XiaomiMi 6 as 210329, which is higher than the score of 183000 of the Apple iPhone 7. Based on these benchmark scores, it is being speculated that the latest Qualcomm, Snapdragon 835 SoC might be powering the XiaomiMi 6. In addition, it is possible that the Mi 6 will be the first smartphone using the flagship Snapdragon processor.
There are also rumors that the XiaomiMi 6 will be offered in three versions, namely, the Mi 6E, the Mi 6P and the Mi 6S. The first one will have the MediaTek or the Samsung ExynosSoC, whereas the Mi 6P will use the Pinecone Soc, which is customized by Xiaomi. The last one, the Mi 6S is tipped to use the flagship Snapdragon 835 SoC. The scores that have been set by Qualcomm’s current SoC, the Snapdragon 821 are about 165000 in case of the OnePlus 3T. If the leaks regarding the latest benchmark results are correct, The Qualcomm Snapdragon, 835 SoC will offer a substantial upgrade over the 2016 one.
However, the benchmark list cannot be seen on AnTuTu right now, though it was posted in Weibo. It could very well be a wrong listing. However, there are also other leaks that seem to suggest that Xiaomi is using the Snapdragon 835 chipset for its XiaomiMi 6 smartphones. We will probably just have to wait and see if the company releases any teasers before the release of the said smartphone. In another related news, it is also reported that Samsung will be making use of the same Snapdragon 835 for its 2017 flagship device, the Galaxy S8.
Qualcomm Snapdragon Ups the Ante
The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 is supposed to be much faster and offer more efficiency when compared with the A10 Fusion SoC of Apple, with the latter being the best processor currently in terms of performance. Qualcomm seems to be increasing its performance levels, so it remains to be seen what Apple will do to compete with it, this being the tenth anniversary of its iPhone.
