The specifications of the ZTE Z986 has got leaked online through a GFXBench benchmark page and the numbers seem pretty good if the model is priced accordingly.
Recently, another ZTE phone, the K813 got leaked on the GeekBench website and now it’s the Z986 which sports a large 6-inch display. The resolution of the screen is acceptable with 1920×1080 pixels. It is powered under the body with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 Octa core processor coupled with 1.8GB of RAM. For such a mid-range range, the manufacturer should have provided at least 3GB of RAM to keep it snappy irrespective of the number of apps that are running. However, they have gone with a very constrained choice that might deter overall user experience in the long run.
The phone has 16GB of storage space, uses Adreno 506 GPU and runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system out of the box. After installing Nougat, there will be a meager 9GB of storage space for the user to make use of. While it is not mentioned in the page, the phone will obviously have a micro SD card slot expand the storage as you need. It has a powerful 13-megapixel snapper in the rear with LED flash and the front has a 5-megapixel camera. The website also confirmed that all the important features including Wifi, GPS, Bluetooth as well as couple of sensors are found on the device. It’s camera has some nifty features like autofocus, face detection and HDR for high quality pictures.

Being a mid-range smartphone based on the Qualcomm processor, we expect the pricing to be around $250. The Snapdragon 625 is the new favorite among manufacturers in 2017. It is highly battery efficient and doesn’t have any heating or lag issues making it the easiest choice to go for. ZTE Z986 should be a decent performer based on the specifications mentioned in the GFXBench page. The phone’s pricing and availability is not known now. However, whenever a model is available on benchmark websites it indicates that it is close to a launch date and will be announced shortly once it receives the usual.If priced right with a solid build quality, the new ZTE phone could a plausible mid-range entrant this year.
