Audi has officially completed its series of launches with the 2018 Audi A5 Cabriolet. It is the third of the lot and the grand finale body style for the brand’s latest series.
Originally scheduled to be launched at the Los Angeles auto expo, the car’s specifications, photos and most things that you need to know has been revealed much earlier. The A5 Cabriolet will be joined by the regular edition coupe and the sportback. The expo will host the cars when it kicks off on November 14th. Being the last important car expo of the car, we expect a lot of manufacturers in a frenzy to showcase some of their upcoming launches and refreshed variants of existing models. LA is going to get crowded with fancy cars this month.
The new A5 Cabriolet has a soft top roof and when closed, it offers great insulation against traffic noise with the help of padded insulation on the sides. To make things easier for the passengers, the car is equipped with an one touch opening. At the touch of a button, the soft top will open in about 15 seconds and it takes about 18 seconds for it to close down. The function can be activated when the car is moving at 30 miles per hour which should be good enough for most people.
Under the hood, the model is powered by a 2.0-liter inline four engine capable of delivering up to 252 horsepower combined with 273 pound feet of torque. A more powerful variant of the cabriolet will use a 3.0-liter V6 engine. The turbocharged engine goes all the way up to offer 354 horsepower with 369 lb feet of torque. With the most potent variant of the engine, the car can go from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 5.5 seconds. The top speed of the model is pegged at 155 miles per hour.
The 2018 Audi A5 Cabriolet is constructed on Volkswagen’s newly developed MLB platform. They are designed to offer the best power to the cars with a front wheel drive. A sturdy finish to the model is ensured by the designers and it weighs 3,725 lbs on the whole. All the latest connectivity technologies are found in the car and some new ones. There are microphones on the seat belts to use voice functionality, has a digital instrument cluster and heads up display. The total storage space is about 13.4 cubic feet which gets much higher when the rear seats are folded. The Cabriolet edition will be available in dealership stores by summer 2017.
