Motorola was listed as the leader when it came to rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Now that it’s time for Android 7.0 Nougat, what’s the plan for the Lenovo-owned company?
According to the latest reports, it seems Motorola is getting ready to repeat its heroics with the Marshmallow update. It appears that the company is preparing for an early rollout with respect to Android 7.0 Nougat, but the handsets in question are not yet confirmed. Naturally, the company should start with the newest members in town, meaning the likes of Moto Z, Moto Z Force, Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus will be leading the way in terms of receiving the update.
As at the time of this writing, the new Android 7.0 Nougat update is only available for users of Nexus 5X, Nexus 6 and Nexus 6P as well as a few Android One devices. If the latest rumors are to be believed, Motorola will join the party as early as this coming October, but probably towards the end. As noted earlier, the entire list of Moto Z handsets should be the first to make the cut followed by the likes of Moto X handsets that include Moto X Style, Moto X Play and Moto X Force.
Android 7.0 Nougat is also expected to be available for the likes of Moto G 3rd generation, Moto Droid 2015 series, Moto E 3rd generation as well as the aforementioned Moto G4, Moto G4 Play and Moto G4 Plus. Be warned that Motorola nor Lenovo has released any official list of the Moto devices that will be updated with Android 7.0 Nougat. This info is based on the editor’s view, which means any changes could also happen to the same.
Motorola is known for its light UI that runs on top of the stock Android OS, something that helps quicken the entire process of rolling out the updates. When this update is ready, we expect to see an official list of Motorola devices that will be eligible for the new Android 7.0 Nougat OS.
