Audi is going unabated as the automobile brand recently came up with a drop top supercar, the R8 Spyder V10 Plus.
It’s not only the brand’s claim but most other competitors would readily agree that this is the fastest ever convertible built.
A powerful engine is housed inside the sleek and stylish looking body of the R8 Spyder. The supercar is powered by a 5.2-liter V10 engine which can deliver up to 602 horsepower. The numbers are very high but Audi is confident of their creation and it is sure to make the buyers go on a frenzy when it delivers on road. Compared to the outgoing model which produces about 532 horsepower the new model is at least 70hp more combined with 560Nm of torque. The car also produces 8,700 rpm redline and it can go from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 3.3 seconds with a top speed of 204 miles per hour.
With such amazing numbers, Audi has kindled the interest of every automobile enthusiast out there with the newly announced R8 Spyder. The hard top and the soft top performance doesn’t vary too much making it viable for anyone to go for the car of their choice without having to compromise on overall top speed, powertrain delivery. The car is equipped with Quattro all-wheel drive system connected to a seven speed dual clutch transmission system. The drive modes are also customizable allowing the driver to choose the right one based on the terrain and the suspension they need to have the optimal experience.
Everything about the R8 Spyder is sporty and the designers have incorporated a lot of features in the car. It has a large carbon front splitter, 19-inch aluminum wheels, deep bucket seats and the majority of the dashboard is made using carbon fiber material. Pre-orders for the car has already been opened. The model costs about €207,500 in Germany where the model is available for purchase. It should take sometime for it to be available in the US, UK among other regions.
Being a drop top model, the time it takes to open or close matters a lot. The Audi R8 Spyder takes about 20 seconds for this action and it can be done when the car is moving at 30 mph. Any speed higher than the suggested levels is not advisable as it could damage the hardware components.
