Dual-SIM Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ Launched in India Priced at Rs 57,900 and Rs 64,900

Google Pixel vs Samsung Galaxy S8

Today is indeed an exciting day as far smartphone launches are concerned. After covering the launch of the Xiaomi Mi 6, we have another one for those in India.

Apparently, today marks the day when Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ make their debut in India. In fact, the two have already been unveiled as at the time of this writing and as expected, there’s no change in major specs and features when compared to variants sold in other markets across the globe – apart from one single thing.

Unlike the variants sold in the U.S., Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ fans in India will get a dual-SIM variant for each phone. With this feature, one is able to enjoy more than one carrier on a single phone, gifting them the freedom of using whatever network they feel like depending on what suits them at different times or even locations. The two phones are already open for pre-orders in the country and so far, they’ll be available in three color variants of maple gold, midnight black and coral blue.

If you can pre-book the Galaxy S8 or S8+, Samsung will give you a free wireless charger for use with your flagship handset. To get your hands on the former, however, you’ll need to shell out an impressive Rs 57,900 or about $897 while the latter will set you back Rs 64,900 or a cool $1005.

Other than the fact that these two Galaxy S8 and S8+ variants will come with dual-SIM support, the rest of the specs and features remain unchanged. These include a 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch QHD+ curved Super AMOLED display screen for the Galaxy S8 and S8+, respectively, an Exynos 8895 SoC, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage and 12MP+8MP sensors for the cameras. For the S8 to keep going, there’s a 3000mAh battery unit while the S8+ gets a bigger 3500mAh unit, both with support for fast charging technology via USB-C ports.

Android Nougat runs the show out of the box. You also get Samsung Pay out of the box, but don’t expect anything with respect to Bixby, which Samsung has said that it will arrive on the devices at a later time.
