Fortnite Battle Royale is the direct competitor for PUBG but not anymore as the massively multiplayer online game is about to go all mobile expanding its horizon.

The publishers of the game Epic Games has confirmed that it will be released on iOS and Android platforms real soon.

The hardware specifications on smartphones have significantly evolved in the past few years and they are capable of handling some amazing games like Asphalt. Fortnite Battle Royale is now available on PC, PS4,and Xbox One. These are the major gaming platforms in which the title supports 50 vs 50 PvP matches. The developers confirmed that it will support the same Battle Royale mode on both iOS and Android devices.

In their official statement, the company said that players can expect the same gameplay, game and game modes. You can also expect weekly updates from the team to keep the title interesting on the mobile platforms. A surprising and impressive new addition is that the game will support cross-platform play between PC, PS4 and the mobile platforms.

Allowing players from PC to compete with PS4 gamers was previously considered to be an unfair match. Most gamers believed a keyboard, mouse combo would give them an unfair advantage against controllers. When you pit those same players against those playing on an iOS or Android using the touchscreen, it might pose a whole new challenge to offer a fair gameplay experience.

Previously, Sony was strictly against cross-platform play and even refused to let Minecraft developers Mojang implement the feature. The game has cross-play between PC and Xbox One but doesn’t connect PS4 gamers with the lot. Fortnite Battle Royale team has managed to convince to support Sony to accept the offer. There is a catch in the list as the game would support cross-platform between PC, PS4, Mac, iOS,and Android but Xbox One is not included in it.

The Fortnite Battle Royale mode is very similar to PUBG. The game deploys a total of 100 players into a shrinking map and the last survivor is the winner. It is free to play on all three platforms while $40 will give you access to a PvE mode. Epic Games is making a big stride by connecting mobile gamers with console and PC players. If it proves successful, new games that would run seamlessly on iOS and Android devices may follow the same path. Fortnite has marked 3.4 million concurrent players and has over 45 million downloads so far.
