Samsung will offer a new Glossy Black option for the S7 next month.
There are reports that the company is preparing itself to release this new color option as a counter to the iPhone being offered in Jet Black.
S7 and the S7 Edge
Samsung Electronics was having an excellent year till the 7th of August, when the Note 7 was released. The S7 and the S7 Edge came with excellent reviews at the launch time. The two smartphones are still one of the best Android phones available in the market and the best selling Android phones of the year 2016.
Note 7 Disaster
However, the Note 7 was embroiled in fire catching issues and Samsung was forced to pull it out of the market and stop the production of the Note 7. This has forced the company to divert its focus to the other flagship phones, such as the S7 and the S7 Edge. This was necessary if Samsung was to increase the sales of these devices.
Blue Coral
In a bid to do this, Samsung along with the top US carriers had launched a new option of Blue Coral for the S7 Edge. The Blue Coral was earlier available only for the infamous Note 7.
Countering Apple’s Rose Gold
In August, Samsung offered the Pink Gold option for the S7 and the S7 Edge phone lineup. This seemed to be in a direct retaliation to the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus available in Rose Gold. The Pink Gold option for the S7 and the S7 Edge lineup was exclusively available at Best Buy.
Inspired by Apple Again
Samsung seems to be continuing to take its inspiration from Apple as far as the color options are concerned. Samsung is now planning on launching the S7 in another color option of Glossy Black. This time it is obviously trying to compete with the Jet Black color of the iPhone 7, which has become exceedingly popular.
Early Launch
According to SamMobile, some Korean sources state that the company will be launching the Glossy Black option for the S7 soon. This is presumably being done in order to reignite the sales of the S7 and also to pose a counter offer to the Jet Black iPhone 7. The black version will be the second black version for the S7 smartphone lineup, joining the earlier Black Onyx option.
Actually, there are rumors that Apple is preparing to offer a Jet White option for the iPhone 7 and the 7 Plus. Samsung may want to add this option as well for the S7 lineup, if it wants to beat Apple in the game.
Launch Areas
It is not yet clear whether the option of Glossy Black for the S7 lineup will be available only in South Korea or elsewhere as well. However, considering the fact that the S7 Edge had been released in the Blue Coral option in several markets, it seems likely that the Glossy Black colored S7 smartphones will also be available in many countries.
