Microsoft has already worked on new updates for the Xbox One and PC versions of its third party shooter game Gears of War 4.
Planned for a February update, the new features comprising two new Impact Dark and War Machine maps and a Valentine’s Day event will be available in time for the occasion. In a press release, Microsoft announced “Gears has always embraced the holidays, and this Valentine’s Day is no different.”. The event will last for a week and commence on the 10th of February. Over the week, players can earn new gear packs, an additional craftable character, the much asked for torque bow tag featuring a Cupid style twist and bounties with Valentine theme on a daily basis. It is worth noting that the maps are being made accessible to only season pass holders. The season pass can be bought for a nominal fee of $50.
Impact Dark is a nighttime variant of the already existing Impact map in Gears of War 4. The new map portrays less visibility because of the smoke in the area that it covers. Also, the snipers, torque/EMBAR and incendiaries in the Impact map are substituted by boltoks, dropshots and overkills respectively to change the course of the existing map. These combined with swapping of close range weapons calls for some intense action and bigger risks to be undertaken. In other words, the combat in the battlefield is definitely bound to be harder.
The second War Machine map traces its roots to the initial Gears of War but with some major changes. The old deserted train station backdrop is replaced with a COG settlement with a spotless appearance and shiny pompous features. Moreover, the new settlement in Gears of War 4 is full of life right from the DeeBee security bay that is always active to the ready to depart train that is at the far end of the platform.
Apart from the above major changes, there will be guardian enhancements that involve changes to the respawning actions. Respawning will be now be done staying closer to the leader rather than random positions.
Following the February update, Gears of War 4 is already prepared for its next revision in summer scheduled around March. There will be a more difficulty level called Inconceivable, along with a horde of new skills for multiplayer mode, additional skills for present classes and introduction of competitive and core lobbies.
